First of all, early diagnosis is accelerating the treatment period of the disease. Blood culture must be taken at the stage of diagnosis. After diagnosis the doctor will start treatment. The most important process is to keep the airway open. Patients with respiratory distress should be provided with an upright tube, endotracheal tube (placed in the mouth or nasal passage), or tracheotomy if necessary. Hypoxia (reduction of oxygenation) should be given if there is oxygen. The vein should be kept open and calmed if there is enough movement to make breathing difficult. The majority of cortisone medications have not been shown. Antibiotics should be given absolutely. Ceftriaxone or ampicillin and chloramphenicol can be used. Usually 7 days treatment is sufficient.
