Gastroesophageal reflux is the pathologic recurrence of stomach contents (asidein) from the stomach to the esophagus (the food tube). Patients may present with a heartburn complaint behind the rib cage. The reflux is sometimes accompanied by the food behind the food pipe, as well as the food of the mouth and the bitter water. Reflux often happens after meals. Gastroesophageal reflux disease is a common disease in our country as it is all over the world. In a study conducted in our country, reflux disease was found in 20% of the population.
What is reflux indication?
The meal from the stomach to the throat that occurs after spreading and burning, the most common symptom of reflux. Of gastric contents in the mouth, difficulty in swallowing, other acid reflux symptoms that can be seen are considered important. Painful swallowing, belching, hiccups, nausea and vomiting, occur more rarely. Reflux, the esophagus, the stomach and intestinal system can cause symptoms outside of the system. Reflux cough, hoarse voice, sore tooth decay and can cause to bees.
What are the causes of reflux disease?
At the root of gastroesophageal reflux causes, food borne is associated with gastric acid contents in excess for a long time. The acidic content of the stomach causes damage to the food pipe over a long period of time, which leads to a burning sensation. Normally, there is a cover-like structure formed from the deliberate lower esophageal sphincter at the lower end of the food tube.
This prevents the acid from escaping back to the food vessel and allows it to stay inside. It is very important that the sphincter cover, which is among the causes of reflux, relaxes with frequent intervals. This valve loosens with frequent intervals and escapes back to the food borne acidic contents of the stomach.
